This summer we’ve been inundated with talent and triumph in sport, with plenty of British sporting success. Everyone at Nationwide Gritting has been gripped, whether it’s tennis, cricket or football. And that’s all before the Olympics has started!
British Achievements At Wimbledon
Wimbledon is once again providing a grand stage for tennis legends and rising stars, with thrilling matches and unforgettable moments already. From our completely biased perspective, there’s been so much British sporting success and lots to enjoy.
Andy Murray took a bow on Centre Court, surrounded by family, friends and fans – with a surprise visit from the brilliant Sue Barker. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house. Emma Raducanu overcame numerous injuries and obstacles, making it to the Round of 16, her best result for three years. Plus, a total of 19 British singles players featured in the tournament, the highest number since 1999.

Highs & Lows At The Euros
Lots has been said about England’s performance at EURO 2024. Many have been underwhelmed or disappointed, but when it comes down to it, the team have got through to the semi-finals – and we should be celebrating!
We finished top of our group. Jude Bellingham’s 90+5 goal against Slovakia was unbelievable. Our penalties against Switzerland were solid, with a nice save from Jordan Pickford.
